Another night of Traditional Irish Music
Musicians show up for these sessions simply for the pleasure of playing together. Music is so important here. People in these rural areas grew up hearing this music at home, probably in the pubs -as the whole family often goes. This is a hobby for them and most have other professions.
The music starts around 8:30 and the bar gets crowded around 9:30 which is surprising for a Sunday night. Thought farmers had to get up early.
Robert chats up some of the locals.
These gentleman got up from the audience and sang a few songs. You can hear the recording if you like. During one of the songs the rest of the audience joined in for the chorus, where all sang with pride about their homeland. Song title: This is my homeland (or My Donegal). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMu-NMyib1U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v45UxRcua3Y
The other song was Titled:Pakistani Pat. Humorous and convey some sense of how the locals view the immigrants. We didn’t video all of it so if you would like to hear the lyrics more clearly, try this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmsbled0lus
It was a late night and we were thankful to be only 10 minutes from the house.
