Heading to Croydon, South London
As usual, a drive which is determined to be only a few hours, according to google maps, turned out to be a whole day. We set out from Cattistock in the late morning heading for Robert’s brother, Martin’s place in South London.
We had several stops in mind, but when we got to Salisbury, an hour and a half into our drive, we found enough to keep us occupied for several hours.
I was here in 1976 with Helen G. on our way to Kenya. Since we were on standby flights we found ourselves having to wait a couple of weeks so we saw some of the countryside. We took a bus from Bath to Salisbury with plans to see Stonehenge, which is nearby. It turned out to be a miserable, rainy day and by the time we reached Salisbury the thought of venturing on to Stonehenge was very unappealing. So we sat in a church, I don’t think it was the cathedral, and waiting for the next bus back to Bath. Remember that Helen?
So on this trip we had a better day to enjoy the Cathedral and to do some shopping - which turned out to pretty good here.
Got a few pictures of some old buildings, churches, streets and the cathedral
After a couple hours of shopping, we continued on to South London. Here a few interesting pictures I took along the way.
