Hereford area and Worcester
The first stop in any major town is the cathedral. Here is the Worcester Cathedral from the back - which we saw as we walked along the river that runs behind.
Robert checks out the huge organ which unfortunately is out of use at the moment.
A loving couple with their dogs from centuries ago.
Despite the rain we had an enjoyable walk along the river behind the cathedral. Many Brits live in barges that they can run throughout the rivers in the UK. Worcester has a good size barge harbor with a variety of barges which are all very well kept. Most likely they pay to park here. In the background you can see the cathedral tower.
At the end of our trip we may visit Robert’s cousin John who lives on a barge in London. In order to avoid parking fees he moves his barge frequently. Stay tuned for that.
Here are a few other photos of interesting sites we found in Worcester.
Interesting tile work on the outside of this pub contrasted with the black and white building next to it which seems to be bursting at its seams.
Here is a little local history for you found in the coffee shop where we stopped.
Oops almost forgot to show you this interesting brickwork on the back of this church which we saw from a walkway above on our way to the parking spot in Worcester. Maybe next trip I’ll get a look at it from the front.
We enjoyed a delicious English dinner at this pub in the countryside. The pub signs are so well done. I’m sure someone has put together a book of pub signs in England.
