In and Around London

We were on a train headed towards London and were lucky to see this beautiful rainbow.

Saturday is a lazy day around here. Leo is walloping Robert in chess. It’s hard to get candid photos of Leo as he is constantly in motion.  Somehow I got a couple of good ones.

It’s actually sunny today and we are about to take the dog for a long walk. The house is across the street from a tennis court and yesterday people were playing tennis in the pouring rain. In England apparently you can’t let the weather stop you. Other times when we’ve been here Robert would be trudging through farmer’s fields in the rain with cousin Richard.

Lotti takes the front seat as we head for a walk in her favorite park. You couldn’t find a sweeter dog!

The park has really nice forests which remind us of those that you find in the northern US. Certainly not like Florida. It is a pleasure to be back in these kinds of environments for a change of pace. Although today we are looking forward to arriving in the warmth of Italy after a month of chilly weather.

At the top of the park there is a great view of the suburbs of South London.

As promised in earlier posts, we were off to visit cousin John and girl friend Charlotte on their barge in London.

After a tour of the gardens surrounding their boat plot on the Regents channel just next to Victoria park, we were treated to tea and a lovely cake that Charlotte cooked up.

For my Florida duck watchers, here are some photos of a Coomon Coot (with the white nose) and a More-hen (with the red nose). It was an interesting experience sitting inside the barge, being right at the waters level and watching them float by.

Here are a few random shots of London as we drove to John’s in the northeast of London. On the way back we drove over the famous Tower Bridge.

We’re off to Italy for a couple of weeks.
