Fall in England

We’ve returned to England to oversee some renovations to Robert’s apartment and to experience the change of seasons. This also means a significant drop in temperature - it’s 30 degrees colder here and sometimes 40 degrees. So we’ve gone from 85 to 55 or 45 degrees. It’s hard to believe the temperatures can be so different. In addition, it is chestnut season so everywhere we go we’re bombarded by nuts.

Here is Robert with his renovation artwork- made of recycled masking tape for painting walls and doors.

Weybridge has the river Way running through it which is a major feature of the town. News to me. I’ve been here many times and we never walked along the river. It is very calming with a variety of activities and swans. Still, how did the name of the town become Weybridge and not Waybridge?

If you’re a new mom and looking for something to do, at lunch on a Friday,
the place to be is the restaurant Megan’s, by the way. All the new moms and babies are there. It looks like Weybridge is having a population explosion. I’ve never seen so many baby buggies parked in a restaurant- and there are more spread through the restaurant. Not sure who this little sweetheart is, but I just had to take his photo.

Megan’s is a middle eastern restaurant with yummy food - we’ve been there twice. It’s beautifully decorated and gives you the sense of traveling to another country.

This ad arrived in the English post today. I’m trying to decide how to interpret this.  Is it an insult to Indian or Italian cuisine? Or, is it a representation of the integration of cultures in Britain? I wonder if Indian pizza will take off in the US. Certainly not in Italy. Italians would be horrified.

We return to Sarasota 10/1 and we are looking forward to our bed and warmer temperatures. We’ve had a wonderful trip, enjoyed the company and hospitality of so many family and friends, and explored Ireland for the first time.
